The Full Policy

The Americans with Disabilities Act requires state and local governments to provide means of effective communication to those with hearing disabilities. NexTalk’s Access keeps you compliant with ADA requirements.

The ADA requires that title II entities (State and local governments) and title III entities (businesses and nonprofit organizations theat serve the public) communicate effectively with people who have commnunication disabilities. The goal is to ensure that communication with people with these disabilities is equally effective as communication with people without disabilities.

How it Works

There are an estimated 48 million deaf or hearing-impaired individuals in the United States. 60 million more do not speak English as their primary language, many of whom do not speak any English at all.

These are your neighbors, community members, constituents, and voters. You represent them and you need to do it well.

NexTalk’s Access Government package allows you to do just that. This offering is designed to meet the unique needs faced by governments and allow them to privately and securely communicate with their residents, no matter their background or abilities.

Access Government includes Access Office that allows you to communicate instantly and securely with those using TTY or RTT devices. It also provides access to SpeechPath, allowing your hard-of-hearing staff to easily and conveniently communicate with others over the phone, instantly converting second-party callers’ words into text for the hard-of-hearing to read. And Access Remote Interpreting, which provides live translation services in over 200 languages including American Sign Language. This keeps conversations private, secure, and between only the parties intended, eliminating the third-party middleman required by other providers.

This is communication for your community. This is your opportunity to move forward, include more people, and leave a legacy for those who come after you.
